WHAT'S NEXT FOR WOLFMOTHER? BUSY STOCKDALE REVEALS HINT
It's been a year since New Crown was released on bandcamp as Wolfmother's third studio album. The first with the new line-up and the first without a record label. In the space of just two days, frontwolf Andrew Stockdale has uploaded some images of himself writing and recording on Facebook.
Wolfmother have never been a band about self-attention, so could this really be the 'next chapter' for the Australian three-piece hard rock band.
The band's first album was a critical success. It built the hype for the band and even in 2015, big hits 'Joker and the Thief', 'Woman' and 'Dimension' are still played consistently at live performances ten years on from their debut record.
Cosmic Egg was released four years later. The expectation would be to think that the huge bundle of line-up changes would have affected the quality of the album. However, it turned out to be well liked by the loyal Wolfmother fans who stuck by the band during the long delays of the release of the second album.
To describe briefly, Stockdale called an end to Wolfmother in the summer of 2013 and decided to go solo as the rest of the Wolf Pack remained band members. The solo album was a flop and the project was soon canceled. However, after 10 weeks, Wolfmother was revived again after a very brief break.
Stockdale revealed that a new album was to be released in 2014 and that it was made to 'sound good live'. New Crown was then released as a third Wolfmother album in March last year with Ian Peres on bass and keys and Vin Steele on drums. The record, that was released on Bandcamp with no record label, did not receive the best of reviews. It was described as 'unfinished' and 'dull' from a number of online reviews. The album moved to a more psychedelic/acid rock sound, however this was recognised by the fans rather than critics.
And that brings us to this present day where we wonder and question the future for the heavy 70s rock revivalists. As the image (top) shows us the accomplished songwriter, we immediately think of those calm and collected 'Tales', 'Where Eagles Have Been', 'Mind's Eye', 'Far Away' and 'In the Morning'.
Although, perhaps he may look into his record production abilities as this was a predominately negative aspect of his performance in New Crown according to reviews from Consequence of Sound and Sputnik Music.

One stage of the band's music schedule is recording. Stockdale uploaded another dual photo, this time of himself recording vocals and guitar. What this will lead to is for us to predict.
Could this be the first Wolfmother album that includes the same line-up as the previous one? Is it going for a replication of live performance sound? Are we going to see more contribution from non-frontmen Peres and Steele? What is "Next Chapter" and "Going for a take" suggesting? We as fans can only hope that further news will be announced from the trio in the near future to excite us of their wild retro musical adventures in this modern world.

I'm hoping for a 2015 release for their next album. Should be good!

Some good points, but it probably won't lead to anything though.
